Sebright Cygnets Nursery

It is with great sadness that the joyful sounds of children playing will no longer be heard within Sebright Cygnets Nursery.  After twenty- four years we have had to make the heart-breaking decision to wind up the Nursery after suddenly being given notice by the School to vacate the premises.

We set up our Nursery after Playgroup was approached by Mr. Stout, a previous Head of the School who was really enthusiastic to have a Nursery on the School site as he appreciated how important it was for the village community to create a nursery for the local children.   We were able to have many happy years working alongside Wolverley Sebright First School and previous Head Teachers.

Jean Small, Sheila Voce and Carole Everett-Li had been running the playgroup over at the Memorial Hall for many years and had seen many children come and go.  The Nursery was set up by a Committee of Parents and many hours were spent painting and preparing the room.

Even from the beginning the Nursery has always felt like one big happy family.  Most of our staff started out as parents of our children so have been here for many years. Many people’s lives have been affected by the Nursery closure.

We would like to give a big thank you to all our children and their families past and present, to the Sebright Trust for their continued support, our Committee members over the years and finally to our wonderful staff who have been so loyal and hard working making this successful Nursery what it was.
